If Alpha Agent is installed, how much of the system resources does it take it up?

The main purpose of Alpha agent is to block illegal copying/ripping when Alpha Disc is the drive. In normal situation, it takes a very small portion of system resources compared to other regular programs.

If Alpha Agent is installed, how is the system stability?

Alpha Agent does not modify or use OS's kernel, it has much higher stablity compared to other solutions that use kernel level technologies. However, any application program can not be 100% free from bugs in various environment. Settec works hard to fix observed errors, as well as to analyze possible error and improve our technology. The update will be provided.

Why is the agreement to EULA(End User License Agreement) necessary?

It is necessry to confirm a user's consent before installing files for a part of copy protection function.
This is necessary even if Alpha-DISC's function is copy protection. Without a user's cosent, no program is installed. When agreed, Alpha Agent for copy protection is installed.

What happens when I disagree with the EULA

A user may agree or disagree with EULA. If a user disagrees, he/she does not agree to user the disc in a PC.The disc will be automatically ejected from a CD/DVD drive and EULA will be closed. No program is installed and the system maintains the original setting.

Does a PC have to be connected to the internet to play Alpha DVD?

No, it does not have to. Alpha DISC can be played regardless of internet connection.

Do I need to play additional player for active type Alpha-DISC DVD or CD?

For audio discs, Alpha-Player is provided to play in a PC. This is provided in a purchased disc and automatically runs when EULA is agreed.
For DVD video, additional player is not provided because license for Mpeg2 codec, etc to play in a PC needs to be purchased. However, Alpha-DISC supports most popular DVD playing softwares. If a user uses unsupported DVD playing software, please contact ask@settec.com and we will try to add it shortly.

What is difference between active type Alpha-DISC technology and rootkit?

There may be various view on Rootkit's definition. The most fundametal differences that separate our technology from a malicious rootkit are inclusion of following functions:

1) Asks for a user's consent before installation.

2) Provides the uninstall webpage and the uninstall program for uninstallation anytime.

This clearly seprates Alpha-DISC technology from "Rootkit with malicious purposes."
However, lately the proposal of its security vulnerability and possiblity to abuse it helped us to improve Settec's technology.
The update (version1.0.4.0) reflects this improvement.
